How to add a page break to your PDF resume

You do not add page breaks in Resumonk. When your resume is longer than one page, Resumonk works out where each page should end and puts the break there for you.

What Resumonk does for you

• Resumonk tries to keep a heading with the section it introduces, rather than leaving it alone at the foot of a page.
• A job title, its employer and its dates stay together. A long description carries on to the next page instead of pushing the whole entry down, the way a word processor paginates.
• The breaks are worked out again every time you edit, change the template, or change your text size, margins or page size. Nothing to redo.

This is why there is no page-break button to look for. Preview & Download shows your resume as one continuous page, so it is where you change how the document looks. Download the PDF to see where the pages actually fall.

If a break still falls somewhere you do not want

That usually means the content is slightly too long or slightly too short for the space. Change the shape of the document and the breaks move with it. Try these in order, downloading the PDF after each one to see where the pages now fall.

1. Open your resume and click Preview & Download.

2. Make the text smaller or larger. In PDF settings, pick a smaller Text size to pull content back onto the previous page, or a larger one to push it forward.

   

3. Adjust the margins under Page settings. Narrower margins fit more on each page.

4. Try another template. Templates differ in how much they fit on a page, so switching often solves a stubborn break on its own.

5. Shorten the content. Cutting two or three lines from an early section is often what moves everything into place, and a shorter resume is usually a better one.

Good to know

• Pagination is free on every plan, and it works the same in every template.
• Letter and A4 are different heights, so switching page size can move where the breaks fall. Download the PDF again after you change it.
• Your public resume page is one continuous document, so page breaks apply to the PDF, not to the web version.
• If you brought a resume over from the old Resumonk editor and it contained a manual page-break marker, that marker no longer does anything. Automatic pagination has replaced it, and you can safely ignore it.
