Resumonk

How to download your cover letter separately

Your cover letter can download as its own file, or as part of the resume file. Most application forms ask for them separately, and that is what Resumonk does by default.

  1. Open your resume and click Preview & Download, then the Download button.

  2. Under Cover letter placement, choose Download separately (its own file).

The download panel with the placement list set to download separately, and PDF and DOCX buttons for both the resume and the cover letter
Separate gives you four files: the resume and the letter, each as a PDF and a Word file.
  3. Under Cover letter, click PDF or DOCX.

The other two placements

Choose Before the resume or After the resume and the letter is folded into the resume file instead. The panel then offers two files rather than four, and says the letter is included.

Good to know

  • The placement is stored on the letter, so the editor and the download panel always agree.
  • The letter prints in the resume's template, so the pair looks like one application.
  • Word files are not available for the seven templates with a photo slot. Those are PDF only, letter included.
