As a designer at Passage you'll join our small product team in building one of the most feature rich and user friendly event ticketing platforms in the industry.
Unlike design roles in many companies, at Passage you'll see your work through from the first sketches to the finished product.
This is the first full-time design position we've hired for at Passage. You'll be taking ownership and shaping the look and feel of our software for years to come. While our leadership and product team will definitely have a say in what ships, we're looking for someone we can trust to make the right calls on User Experience. After all, you're the expert!
Here are some examples of actual projects you might be working on:
Requirements
In addition to having a knack for beautiful designs and a deep understanding of functional web and mobile app interfaces, you'll need to have excellent HTML and CSS skills. If you have some Javascript experience, even better! You'll have to be comfortable working with a Ruby on Rails codebase (or similar framework). Don't worry, you don't need to be a programmer. You'll be working with and will be fully supported by our engineering team on every project.
Passage is a fully remote company and we prefer to communicate asynchronously. While we do have video chats when they're called for, most of our communication is done in writing. In addition to being a great written communicator, you'll be expected to come up with meaningful and easy-to-understand copy and dialog throughout our application. Although we are a distributed team willing to hire from anywhere, we'd like at least 4 hours of overlap with the US-Eastern Time zone.
Fill out the form here and write us a cover letter introducing yourself. Tell us why you want to work at Passage and describe how you envision your role. It's your story, so take your time. There are no right answers or specifics we're looking for, just know that we feel that a cover letter is as important, if not more important, than a resume.
If we decide to move you forward to the next step, we'll be in touch and set up an interview. We just want to get to know you and chat a bit about your experiences and how you work. From there, we'd love to take a look at some of your past work. After that, we'll narrow it down to a few candidates and we may ask you to join a screen share to walk us through some interfaces you have designed before and explain some of your thought process. We may even have you take a look at some of our app and provide feedback. Don't worry, we're not looking for free consultation. This would be a very casual conversation without anything being put down on paper. We just want to get an idea on how you think about UX/UI.
