Our current team of 160+ people is growing quickly, and we have an immediate opening for an experienced Controller/Director of Accounting who will help us move the needle at TaxJar by:
Developing and owning the accounting function within the TaxJar Finance team, managing all day to day aspects of record to report in accordance with GAAP, and driving increased visibility and awareness of key financial statements and how they reflect company performance.
As a Controller/Director of Accounting for TaxJar you will:
- Be responsible for standing up the accounting function within the Finance organization and transition our accounting practices to be managed internally
- Own recording of ongoing financial activity throughout each month and establish a high quality, timely end to end monthly close and financial statement reporting process
- Define and structure a set of key accounting policies and guidelines that will help the company remain GAAP compliant as we continue to grow and scale
- Implement new accounting standards and keep the company current on new and evolving accounting guidance
- Work with our external audit and tax partners on all compliance deliverables/statutory-related items that affect the company
Requirements:
- 10+ years of accounting experience in either public accounting, corporate accounting, or a combination of both
- CPA or Master’s of Accounting
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related field
- Experience working in accounting or finance within a SaaS or enterprise software company, startup experience a plus
- Experience with ASC 606 and software revenue recognition/revenue accounting
- “Roll up the sleeves” mentality and drive to help define a strategically important finance org function
- Proven ability to be highly collaborative and willing to seek input from multiple functions/stakeholders to make key decisions
- Curious about the business and how each function integrates and works together to solve problems
- Stickler for perfection and providing clear and easy to understand work products
