Karlin Keelan Smith

Serving as a nurse practitioner for patients undergoing cardiac surgery since 2001, Karlin Keelan Smith holds a master's degree in nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston and a master's degree in public health from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. As a nurse practitioner at Roper St. Francis Hospital, Karlin Keelan Smith conducts physical examinations on post-operative patients and coordinates medical procedures and plans of care. She also analyzes diagnostic data and consults with potential candidates for cardiac surgery.

Passionately devoted to the field of nursing, Ms. Smith currently maintains membership with several organizations, including the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), a well-known organization serving nurse practitioners of all medical backgrounds. Her other nursing affiliations include the Lowcountry Advanced Practice Nurses Association (LCAPN), a smaller group targeting Charleston-based nurse practitioners, and the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI). She is also a member of the MUSC Alumni Association.
