John C. Chiu MD

John C. Chiu, MD, an accomplished neurosurgeon, treats people through his private practice in Thousand Oaks, California. Called California Spine Institute Medical Center, Inc., the practice relies on innovative technologies, minimally invasive surgical techniques, and physical therapy to deliver a high professional standard of spine care. Complementing his dedication to spine surgery, John C. Chiu, MD, is a long-time practitioner of the martial arts, having achieved grand master level in several styles. Recently, the International Martial Arts Hall of Fame honored him with its Martial Arts Living Legend Award.

Before establishing himself in neurosurgery, Dr. Chiu studied at Baylor College of Medicine, from which he earned his doctor of medicine. Continuing his education, he underwent his surgical internship through Brooklyn Hospital and his neurosurgery residency at the Mayo Clinic. He is a founding chairman of the American Academy of Minimally Invasive Spinal Surgery and Medicine.
