Hey there! We’re a small 100% remote team passionate about making literature accessible to everyone. Created by the original editors of SparkNotes, LitCharts is a literary resource that takes an entirely new approach to analyzing and explaining literature. Millions of students, teachers, and book lovers around the world use the LitCharts website every month.

Who we’re looking for:
A curious, positive, helpful, and humble problem solver who is a great communicator and will be excited to collaborate with us. We work flexible hours but typically stick to 9am-5pm ET and are looking for someone able to do the same.

Position overview:
As a Product Designer at LitCharts, you’ll spend your days digging into our users’ needs—learning about their pain points, imagining new features, and turning insights into thoughtful and delightful experiences on our website. You’ll be working alongside our Lead Designer of product and brand, and will have the opportunity to own your work while having guidance and mentorship.

What you’ll be doing
  • Planning and conducting user research and usability testing
  • Brainstorming new ways to improve key parts of the LitCharts product
  • Translating product requirements into wireframes and high-fidelity designs
  • Creating prototypes to communicate flows and interactions
  • Working across teams to understand constraints and bring designs to life

What you’ll need:
  • An inspiring portfolio that shows us how you approach problems
  • Well-rounded UX knowledge (ie. crafting user flows and journeys, information architecture, prototyping, lo-fi and hi-fi wireframes)
  • Strong visual design skills, or an interest in developing them
  • Desire to advocate for our users
  • Ability to simplify complex ideas and explain them to others
  • Excellent organization and time management

Nice-to-haves:
  • Degree or certification in design or related field
  • A passion for literature, reading, or education
  • Experience working on a remote team
  • Experience using a design system
  • Familiarity with front-end development (HTML, CSS, JS)
  • Hobbies or interests outside of design

Why LitCharts?

  • 401k with matching
  • Healthcare coverage
  • Competitive salary
  • Annual bonus
  • Working remotely
