Why we’re hiring

We want someone to take ownership of our website Content Management System (CMS). In the short/medium term, this would be the primary focus of the role until the CMS is ‘done’. You’ll be regularly working with our content team to extend and improve the system. You’ll also be helping other devs add to the CMS and integrate other parts of the app. Once you’ve got a solid understanding of the system and processes, you’re welcome to rewrite or rearchitect it.

Perks

  • Work anywhere you like. Our team is spread across Australia, Indonesia, Portugal, Russia, Thailand, Ukraine, and the USA.
  • Arrange your time to suit you. As long as you’re doing the time, ‘when’ is up to you.
  • We encourage you to work on side projects for fun and profit.
  • Monthly 1:1s otherwise only a few meetings per month.
  • No us-and-them with remote workers. Everyone is remote.
  • Co-working space, if you want one.
  • We run a yearly retreat (when we can - thanks, Covid). 2017 was Spain for 10 nights. Thailand for 2018, Prague in 2019. If you don’t want to come, that’s fine too.
  • Italki lessons to improve your skill and confidence in English, if you want.

Compensation

  • Up to $43 USD/hr depending on experience. Australians can get an equivalent rate (+super) salary position.
  • 10 paid days off per year.

Responsibilities

  • Writing production-ready code
  • Ensure that your code does the right thing. You will need to do analysis and work with stakeholders.
  • Ensure that your code works. You will need to test - automated, manual as needed.
  • Ensure that you do your work. You will need to be self-motivated and manage your own time.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in Ruby & Rails
  • Significant experience in JavaScript
  • Significant experience in CSS/HTML
  • Willing to undergo a background check (for our SOC2 compliance)
  • Good written English
  • Conversational spoken English
  • Proficient in mac/linux

Exclusions

  • No part-timers. This role is full-time only. Expectation is 35+ hours over 5 days.
  • No agencies. We’re only looking to hire directly.
