ui ux product

$100k/year. 100% remote. Flexible schedule.

We’re looking for someone to help us design the next iteration of our state-of-the-art drag & drop website builder for WordPress.

This is a hybrid role: 50% design, 50% product.

Your job will be to identify what customers need, make it easy-to-use and visually appealing, and implement your designs in HTML and CSS.

You’re expected to be self driven, solve problem and make decisions on your own. You will have a high degree of ownership over what you create. We trust you to create the best designs you can - you can always ask for help and feedback though!

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Product Design - what should we build?

  • UI / UX Design & Wireframes - how will it work?

  • Visual Design - make it pretty (Figma, Sketch, etc.)

  • Web Design - (knowledge of responsive, compressed assets, SVG, performance analysis, etc.)

  • Marketing Design - FB ads, YT thumbnails, etc.

  • HTML / CSS - ability to implement any design

  • Basic JS knowledge - (the sort of JS you’d need for a typical website, such asdropdown menus, using slider libraries, etc.)

Nice to haves (but not required):

  • WordPress experience / basic PHP experience

You will be working directly on our core product - a drag and drop website builder for WordPress. You will be designing new features and user interfaces, and also improving what already exists.

You will work directly with our founder, 3 senior software engineers, and 3 designers.

Sometimes you’ll be responsible for implementation of your designs in HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript. But if more than HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript knowledge is required for implementation, our engineering team will take care of it.

There is lots of opportunity for professional growth in this role. We are a small, rapidly expanding team.

About You:

  • Detail oriented

  • Smart & opinionated - you know how things should work, and you constantly see room for improvement

  • Humble - you know the best idea always wins, and that it doesn’t matter where it came from

  • Independent - you are capable of being tasked with building “feature X”, and doing what it takes to deliver

  • Clear & effective communicator

  • 5+ years of design / product experience

How We Work:

We are an async-first company. We keep meetings and chat to the absolute minimum to foster focus-time.

We use Basecamp for team communication. Very occasionally you’ll do a Zoom call to go over something with your collaborators, but it’s quite rare (think 1 or 2 per month).

As a fully-remote team, we don’t care what time zone you’re in or at what times you’re working. We only care about the quality of your work.

We consider good communication skills very important because of the above.

What We Offer:

  • $100k/year

  • Fully remote

  • No scheduling requirements - you can work whenever you want

  • A work environment free from politics / meetings / interruptions / bs

  • No overtime / crunch time / rushing / stress. We are a calm company: https://basecamp.com/books/calm

  • $2k/year learning materials budget

How To Apply:

Send a resume and cover letter to Louis (the founder): [email protected]

If you sound like a good fit, we’ll schedule a short call (~1 hour on Zoom) where we’ll have a conversation about your design experience. And of course we’re happy to answer any questions you have about us.

We are expecting to make a hiring decision in the next ~3 weeks. We are flexible, and are happy to give you some time to wind things down at your current position if necessary.
