Dr. Susan Turner

The Private Practice of New York Psychiatrist Dr. Susan Turner

Currently practicing in the easily accessible Flatiron District of Manhattan, Dr. Susan Turner is a board certified psychiatrist who takes a holistic approach, stressing the importance of lifestyle changes in conjunction with psychopharmacological therapies and other traditional biological treatments. Dr. Susan Turner is also a strong proponent of pet therapy.

Growing up the daughter of a rural veterinarian in South Georgia, Dr. Turner was impressed by what she describes as the "powerful and healing connection between animals and people." She has achieved great clinical success by utilizing this connection in her private practice.

In addition to treating patients directly as an attending psychiatrist, Dr. Susan Turner has instructed medical students as a professor, lecturer, preceptor, and clinical supervisor. She also co-authored a chapter titled "Hospital Treatment of Depression and Mania" in the 2009 medical textbook Principles of Inpatient Psychiatry. Dr. Turner holds active membership in the American Psychiatric Association and supports the global initiatives of Doctors Without Borders.
