An accomplished clinician, educator, and researcher, Dr. Sammie I. Long has received a number of awards for her professional achievements. She stands out as a repeat recipient of the Physician's Recognition Award, given by the American Medical Association, and in 2006 she accepted the nomination to the Consumer Research Council of America's Guide to America's Top Radiologists. Dr. Sammie I. Long began her history of achievement as a student at Meharry Medical College, where she earned five prestigious awards, including the Charles Nelson Gold Medal.


A member of several professional associations, such as the American Medical Association and the Association of University Radiologists, Dr. Sammie I. Long has presented before numerous professional conferences and conventions. Also published in a number of peer-reviewed journals and newsletters, including the Journal of Minimally Invasive Therapy, she has contributed articles on angioplasty techniques and animal-free teaching models for interventional radiology, among various other topics. Dr. Sammie I. Long most recently conducted her work as a clinical assistant professor of radiology and a special fellow at the University of South Alabama Medical Center. She remains current with Continuing Medical Education (CME) events and courses, which enable her to stay up to date with the latest developments in radiology.
