Steven A. Field MD (Florida)

Based in Tampa, Florida, Steven A. Field, MD, works as a high school science teacher with Hillsborough County Public Schools, where he teaches courses including biology and health sciences. Early in his career, Steven A. Field, MD, spent many years practicing medicine, working as a private practice orthopaedic surgeon in Brandon, Florida, from 1978 until 1995.

Dr. Field also has functioned as a medical consultant for a number of organizations, including the US Postal Service’s Suncoast District, Tampa Electric Company, and the Biomedical Office of NASA’s Kennedy Space Center.

He also has served as a member of the Health Policy and Law Committee for the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and worked as deputy director of occupational medicine residency at the University of South Florida (USF). His other posts include service as medical director of the Doctors’ Urgent Care Clinic in St. Petersburg and of Network Synergy Inc. in Tampa.

In addition to his teaching and medical career, he conducted research into heat stress at USF and into first responders’ personal protective equipment in bioterrorism. He earned his MD from Hahnemann Medical College and has completed graduate studies in neurophysiology and public health.
