Ramesh Goenka

Jewelry Industry Leader

Throughout his career, jewelry industry executive and entrepreneur Ramesh Goenka has secured numerous industry honors for excellence in production and innovation. As founder and former non-executive chairman of Suashish Diamonds Limited, he received India's National Export Award on two distinct occasions. Ramesh Goenka has also led Suashish Diamonds to prominence as sightholder of the Diamond Trading Company, part of the industry giant De Beers, and as the star trading house of a leading Indian export company.

After beginning his career in the 1960s, Ramesh Goenka established Suashish Diamonds in 1988. Seven years later, the firm became the first diamond manufacturer to oversubscribe its initial public offering by more than six times; by 1997, the company had achieved standing as one of India's 100 Super Companies. During this time, the company also earned export awards from The Gem and Jewelry Export Promotion Council and the government of Maharashtra.

Mr. Goenka continued to expand Suashish's interests when he entered into the jewelry export trade. Under his leadership, the company grew into one of the top five jewelry exporters from India to markets in the West. He now serves as CEO of Suashish Group, the firm's holding company, and as head of the Ramesh Goenka Foundation, which offers support and resources to institutions that serve vulnerable populations.
