Adjua Starks - Former Assistant Dean of Barnard College

An accomplished educational administrator, Adjua Starks earned a bachelor of science in human development and family studies from Cornell University and a juris doctor from Cornell Law School. While attending law school, she won a Bureau of National Affairs Law Student Award and represented the student body on the Administration and Faculty Committee on Admissions and Financial Aid. Adjua Starks went on to teach with the New York City Department of Education and to coordinate the internship program for the New York law firm of Stevens, Hinds & White, PC, before embarking on an administrative career at New York Law School.

Adjua Starks subsequently served as an assistant dean in Barnard College's Office of the Dean of Studies from 2006 to 2015. Overseeing a range of pre-health-advising and academic-assistance functions, she helped students and alumnae who were pursuing postsecondary studies and professional training in various health fields including medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry and public health. Ms. Starks also was selected for, and participated in, a number of Barnard College's interview committees pertaining to the hiring of key, head personnel at the college.
