Steve Fair's Long Career Career as a Colorado Swimming Coach

Steve Fair began his career in 1997 as a lifeguard working for the City of Colorado Springs and quickly earned a promotion to pool manager. Alongside this position, he began working as a swimming coach for swimmers aged eight and under for the Colorado Springs Swim Team. Additionally, Steve Fair has served as an assistant manager for the Manitou Pool, where he earned CPR certification, as well as first aid, AED, and further lifeguard training.


In 2003, Fair began serving as head coach at Rocky Mountain Rapids. In this position, which he held until 2008, he coached the Rocky Mountain Rapids senior swim team, helping them reach both the sectional and state qualifiers. Moving to serve as head coach of Woodmoor Waves in Monument, Colorado, he continued to coach the senior group, guiding the team through state and sectional qualifiers and eventually claiming the state champion title.


Moving to Cheyenne Mountain Aquatics in 2011, Steve Fair coached multiple age groups and coordinated team fundraising activities. Several members of his teams were named among the top 16 swimmers in the nation and were selected to the National Select Camp. Concurrently to his duties as coach, he went back to school and earned an associate's degree in science from Pikes Peak Community College. In 2015, he left Cheyenne Mountain Aquatics for his current position as senior group coach at Pikes Peak Recreation. He also is working on earning his bachelor of science in biochemistry at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
