Jonathan Heard MD

Jonathan Heard, MD, received a bachelor of science in biology from the University of Illinois to begin preparing for his career. Jonathan Heard, MD, continued his training as a medical student at the Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C., earning a doctor of medicine.

His postgraduate training included an internship in general surgery with Beekman Downtown Hospital in New York City as well as a residency at the Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, where he became executive chief resident of general surgery. He completed his training at the same facility with a fellowship in critical care. Today, Jonathan Heard, MD, works as an urgent care provider in association with the Oscar G. Johnson Veterans Administration Hospital in Iron Mountain, Michigan.

Active in his field, Jonathan Heard, MD, holds memberships in several organizations related to his profession, including the National Medical Association, the Society of Black Academic Surgeons, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine, among others. He also has published work in the Archives of Surgery and the Journal of the National Medical Association.
