After more than 20 years in the United States Marine Corps, Gary Garbrandt now serves as a railroad conductor for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. As a marine, Gary Garbrandt’s experience extended to serving as detachment commander responsible for American embassies in the United Arab Emirates and Jordan.


Selected to manage detachment operations at a newly constructed embassy, Mr. Garbrandt worked to continuously improve all aspects of building security. His responsibilities included organizing and training armed internal security. With experience as senior martial arts instructor, he taught defensive and touch control techniques. He received the Meritorious Service Medal and the Superior Honor Award from the US State Department for his performance in Operation Iraqi Freedom.


A proud owner of two rescue dogs, Gary Garbrandt supports the efforts of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals through monthly contributions. He is also an active supporter of his daughter’s cheerleading and coaching activities and enjoys attending Ohio State football games.
